April Recreate & Replicate

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 6, 2011, 9:17 AM

Woody Lindsey

FIRST THINGS FIRST!

What's the difference in "Recreation" & "Replica" Movie Posters?

Here are the "OFFICIAL" General Rules!
(But each month will have "Specific Rules"!)

:bulletblue: (1.) Both  RECREATIONS & REPLICAS must be made from your artistic DRAWING abilities (Photo-manipulation, Sketches, Drawings, Paintings, Photoshop Paintings, Charcoals, Crayons, etc... ( ;P ), DeviantArt Muro Painter (What I used), etc...

:bulletred: A "RECREATION" OF A MOVIE POSTER IS ===> When you make 'Your Moderated Poster, but  you sway away from the Original Movie Poster, and completely "REDESIGN" it, as you see fit!

RECREATION EXAMPLE:

:bulletred: A "REPLICATION" OF A MOVIE POSTER IS ===> When you make 'Your Moderated Poster, but DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT sway from the Pre-existing 'Original Movie Poster's design you have chosen to Compare/Contrast against!

REPLICATION EXAMPLE:

:bulletblue: (2.) Typography:

:bulletgreen: "RECREATION" ===> You can change the color, font, anything you'd like.. It's your recreation of the Original! Simple, huh? Enjoy!!!

However, A...

:bulletgreen: "REPLICATION" ===> You Can Not, I repeat CAN NOT change the Typography's "Font" of the poster. "Your 'Replica' must have exactly the same original words and credits displayed on the poster, as the 'Original'.

:bulletwhite: Keep in Mind both, Recreations and Replications have to have the credits in "Steeltongs" Font format if the poster has credits on the original... All legitimate posters use the font "Steeltongs."

"REPLICATIONS cont..." ===> 'Moderated' Posters that do not have the credits, and or slug lines, and or director credits,  etc... "WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IN THE "Replica" VOTE!" (THEY WILL BE CONSIDERED A RECREATION) (BUT if the 'Original Poster has no words, title, or credits on the poster, than
"Hello, you with me?"
"WE WILL ACCEPT IT AS A 'MODERATED "REPLICA" POSTER"!

THE KEY IS TO DRAW AN EXACT or MODERATED "REPLICA" Of an Original Movie Poster!

:bulletblue: (3.) How do you display a Recreation and a Replica?

"RECREATIONS & REPLICAS" ===> You must display the 'Original' Poster (UNLESS NOTED IN "SPECIFIC MONTHLY RULES") NEXT to your 'Recreation' and or 'Replica' Poster when you submit to the "RECREATION-REPLICA  MOVIE POSTERS" folder. I repeat, submit to the "RECREATION-REPLICA MOVIE POSTER" folder.

:bulletblue: (4.) Can you veer from a "Recreation" and or "Replica" at all?

:bulletpurple: "RECREATION" ===> You can do whatever you want! It's your recreation, right? lol

:bulletpurple: "REPLICATION" ===> You are allowed to "SLIGHTLY" CHANGE OR VEER from the 'Original Poster's drawings or photos or art, BUT NOT RE-CREATE!

:bulletblue: (5.) The fifth and final "OFFICIAL" General Rule is that each month we will display a new "RECREATION" AND A "REPLICATION" Movie Poster for display on our home page. You can submit as many as you want and no matter how many you have in the pot (folder) we will pull from the pot and display when (THE MEMBERS VOTE THEIR FAVORITE AS THE MONTHLY WINNER!). You do have the opportunity to win every month and have your Posters display with a Link back to your site. The trick is to do a different  "Recreation" and a "Replication" that's Awesome every month. Well, I hope this is new and something everyone can do.

"PHEW, THAT WAS LONG" NOW! (Drum Roll)

The April 2012 "Recreation" & "Replication" Poster Making Theme for :iconmovie-posters-r-us: MPR' US Is Now Officially:

"Parody A Poster! (All Films, All Movies, All TV Shows) However, it must be done as a Parody!"

Basically find any Animation/Film/Movie/Documentary movie poster and you may either Replicate it or Recreate it!

:bulletred::bulletgreen::bulletred::bulletgreen:"SPECIFIC RULES":bulletred::bulletgreen::bulletred::bulletgreen:

Remember it is a "Recreation" & "Replication" competition! So the posters you make MUST BE RECREATED AND OR REPLICATED by the Animation/Film/Movie/Documentary movie poster!

How do you do this?

:bulletorange: REPLICATIONS" ===> You must display your newly made poster next to the original Music/Musicians/Bands/Musical movie poster that you're replicating from.

There is only one rule!

:bulletblue: (1) Make your replicating poster exactly like the original!

         A) Use the General Replicating Rules above.

:bulletorange: "RECREATIONS" ===> You must display your newly made poster next to the original Music/Musicians/Bands/Musical movie poster you're recreating from.

:bulletblue: (1) You must have a title ex: "The Doors"

:bulletblue: (2) If you'd like you can have a slug ex: "Light My Fire"

:bulletblue: (3) It's your choice to place the credits at the bottom, but if you do you most likely should credit it in the propper font format a "movie poster" should be in. (steeltongs)

:bulletblue: (4) IT MUST BE Any "Animation/Film/Movie/Documentary Movie"!

:bulletblue: (5) THE FIFTH AND FINAL "SPECIFIC RULE"! Very Important!

Enter your posters into the Folder

:bulletwhite: Once you create your first "Recreation" and or "Replica" you may do another, and another, and another, lol... but enter one for both a recreation and a replica to have a chance to win both!

It looks like the new 2012 Total Recall poster would fit into this group's monthly R/R challenges.

For January 2012 parody theme, can I submit a hybrid between recreation and replication? it's parody anyway, right?

Basically, I will do a poster like the original but with slight differences (my own title, change of gender, font, wording, etc). It wont' be exactly a replication. I think it's suitable to be put into recreation section. But is it allowed such recreation which looks like replication?

I will definitely place it into the recreation. A replica is exactly like the original and a recreation is however you see fit for the poster to look.

I have no pressure, this is just I don't find good ideas for poster parodies... this is why I don't make a lot of them
